چکیده
Imaging abnormalities of the splenium of the corpus callosum (SCC) are uncommon but have been described in various clinical conditions such as Marchiafava-Bignami disease, trauma, infectious diseases, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, epilepsy, altitude sickness, hypoglycaemia, electrolyte abnormalities, leukodystrophy, and infarction, and following radiation therapy and chemotherapy. 2 We have detected a diffuse lesion in the SCC of two patients with methyl bromide intoxication.

A Reversible Lesion of Corpus Callosum Splenium with Adult Influenza Associated Encephalopathy: a case report
An influenza virus associated encephalopathy is severe and poor prognoses in childhood. Adult case reports were still quite rare. Especially, none of them was presenting quite mild subcortical encephalopathy with reversible lesions of corpus callosum splenium. A previously healthy 35-year-old man was affected by acute progressive tetraplegia, transcortical motor aphasia, and mild dullness of hi...
متن کاملFocal lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Discrete focal lesions in the splenium of the corpus callosum on MR images in epileptic patients have received little attention in the literature. Our purpose was to describe these lesions, which may be related to the toxicity of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), and to discuss the possible mechanisms of their development. METHODS We examined six patients with epilepsy whose ...

Keeping in mind that lesions located in the splenium of the corpus callosum can sometimes be temporary may help us avoid invasive diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Transient lesion in the splenium of the corpus related to using or withdrawal of antiepileptic drugs are rarely encountered. In this article, we present a non-epileptic patient found to have a centrally located isolated lesion in t...
متن کاملA reversible lesion of the corpus callosum splenium with adult influenza-associated encephalitis/encephalopathy: a case report
INTRODUCTION Influenza virus-associated encephalitis/encephalopathy is a severe childhood illness with a poor prognosis. Adult case reports are rare and, to date, there have been no reports of adults with a mild subcortical encephalopathy with reversible lesions of the corpus callosum splenium. CASE PRESENTATION A previously healthy 35-year-old man presented with acute progressive tetraplegia...
متن کاملFocal lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum on FLAIR MR images: a common finding with aging and after brain radiation therapy.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Focal high signal intensity in the splenium of the corpus callosum on fluid-attenuated inversion-recovery (FLAIR) images is generally considered an abnormal MR finding. We identified high signal intensity in the splenium on FLAIR images in patients of advanced age with otherwise normal images and in patients who had received brain radiation therapy. We undertook an invest...
